Bio: Kelsey Koutsoukos (he/him/his) is a fourth year chemistry major. He is involved with the 5th Grade Chemistry Outreach Program and loves sharing his passion for chemistry with others. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, cooking, and playing with his dog, Pike!

Bio: Sarah (she/they) is very excited to be involved with event planning for oSTEM this year! They are a fourth-year physics major pursuing research in theoretical particle physics. In her free time, she enjoys reading & watching horror and hanging out with her cats.

Bio: Pierre Thibodeaux (he/him/his) is a third-year physics major from Los Angeles who is studying astronomy, which is NOT the same as astrology. He is a Libra sun and Leo moon who enjoys musical theatre but hates Dear Evan Hansen. He likes to write and draw and has been seen dabbling in video game development.

Bio: Jayleen (she/her/hers) is a fourth year Computer Science major who enjoys being at
hackathons, creating mini 3D art, and playing video games. She loves UCSB and wants to promote a

Bio: Germán (He/They) is a second year MA/PhD Student in the Geography Department from the Stockton, CA area. He studies how coastal vegetation responds to disturbance, such as climate change and deposition events. He strives to increase diversity and inclusion in STEM and share his passion for science and geography with everyone. In his free time, he reads, plays video games, studies languages, and goes on plenty of walks with his dog.

Advisor: Professor Omer Blaes
Bio: Omer Blaes is a Professor and former Chair of the UCSB Physics Department. He works in theoretical astrophysics, with a particular focus on dynamics and radiation processes in accretion flows onto black holes and other compact objects. His education and postdoctoral career took place in four countries (the UK, Italy, the US and Canada) before he joined the UCSB faculty in 1993. Professor Blaes is a happily married gay man, and strongly supports the fostering of an inclusive environment for all human beings in the sciences so that they may achieve their highest potential.
